JetBlue Corporation (NYSE:JBLU) managed to report good increases in all key operational metrics to kick off Q2 2017. The carrier grew its capacity at a rate of 6.6% y-o-y in April, bringing the year-to-date capacity growth to 4.8%, much higher in comparison to its peers. In terms of traffic, revenue passenger miles were up a significant 8.2% y-o-y in April, and 5% in the year so far. Similarly, revenue passengers also increased by about 10.5% y-o-y, and 7.5% in the year-to-date. Unlike last month, the load factor was up by 120 bps to 85.3%. Additionally, the company managed to report a preliminary completion factor of 98.5%, while its on-time performance came in at 72.4%.

As announced on the last earnings call, the company announced its decision to no longer report monthly PRASM figures. Although a number of airlines do not report PRASM figures on a monthly basis, the move away from transparency shows that all is not well on the pricing side.

That said, JetBlue continues to expect second quarter revenue per available seat mile (RASM) to increase between 3% and 6% compared to the second quarter of 2016.
