Ford (NYSE:F) has reportedly ramped up its production target for its F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck which is expected to go on sale next year. Ford is targeting over 80,000 trucks in 2024, up from its prior plan of producing over 40,000 trucks, per a report from Reuters.
Ford is reportedly seeing stronger than expected demand for the electric pickup. The company previously said that it had about 120,000 reservations for the truck.
The recent reports indicate that customers might be warming up to the trend of electrification in pickup trucks, which are one of Ford’s most profitable product lines. Ford stock gained about 1.3% in Monday’s trading.
