Shares of Bloom Energy (BE) currently trade at 177.5 times adjusted earnings for the past twelve months. That calculation adds back stock-based pay after tax. It is a steep price for a single year of profit, but the valuation looks entirely different against consensus profit forecasts for fiscal 2026 and fiscal 2027. So what does a buyer at today’s price have to believe about Bloom Energy’s next two years?

Bloom Energy Has To Sell More And Keep More

Investors must bank on the company selling significantly more while keeping a larger slice of each sale as profit. Wall Street consensus has revenue growing 67.4% from fiscal 2026 to fiscal 2027. Net income is forecast to grow even faster at 81.7%, meaning those expectations rely on a wider net margin.

Based on that consensus forecast, the stock trades at 114.5 times fiscal 2026 profit. That compares to the 177.5 times multiple for the past twelve months. Looking further out to fiscal 2027 profit, the valuation settles at 63.0 times.

Bloom Energy’s Revenue Already Outpaces The Forecast

Revenue surged 91.0% over the past twelve months. That jump follows a 23% increase in the preceding twelve months and a slight decline the year before that. Company executives noted that the second quarter of fiscal 2026 marked Bloom Energy’s first reporting period with more than $1 billion in revenue, reflecting accelerating data center deliveries. During an earnings call on July 28, 2026, leadership stated that the project backlog is expanding faster than revenue as customers commit to longer-term orders.

Wall Street estimates are close to internal expectations for fiscal 2026. On the July call, the company raised its fiscal 2026 revenue outlook to a midpoint of $4.05 billion. The current consensus revenue forecast for the year sits 1.5% above that midpoint. Furthermore, the consensus earnings forecast of $2.71 a share falls inside management’s non-GAAP guided range of $2.55 to $2.85.

Where Could Bloom Energy Miss The Consensus?

Profit margins represent the likeliest vulnerability. On the same consensus-table basis analysts use for their forecasts, Bloom Energy’s net margin was 7.2% for fiscal 2025. Hitting consensus projections requires that figure to reach 16.0% in fiscal 2026 and climb to 17.3% in fiscal 2027. Executives stressed on the July call that they would willingly rush a long-term customer’s order rather than protect a single point of margin in any given quarter. Looking ahead, the fiscal 2027 profit forecast already faces uncertainty. The gap between the highest and lowest per-share estimates equals 29.1% of the consensus.

Project timing introduces another major risk. Construction assignments always encounter delays, executives cautioned on the earnings call. The company structures its outlook with the assumption that some projects will slip while others arrive on schedule. Leadership also could not say for sure whether AI spending will maintain its recent pace. If data center projects face delays, Bloom Energy would book some fiscal 2027 sales later, and that year’s forecast would come down.

Bloom Energy is already growing its sales faster than the fiscal 2027 forecast requires. The company has not yet achieved the projected margin, however. If both the sales and the margin materialize, the multiple on fiscal 2027 profit offers a fair picture of the investment. Still, the margin remains the likelier miss. If profitability falls short, the stock becomes a much riskier holding, valued on profit Bloom Energy has yet to deliver.

Now you know BE better. And that’s our purpose: to make you informed before you invest your money. However, making a bet on a single stock carries its own risks.

There is a smarter choice. Since its inception, the Trefis High Quality (HQ) Portfolio has beaten the benchmark that combines the three major indices – the S&P 500, S&P Mid-cap, and Russell 2000. And it did so without taking the concentrated risk that comes with do-it-yourself stock picking.
