It continues to add additional features to Amazon Prime Instant Video, which makes it easier for users to discover and watch content. It added apps to the Sony Playstation 3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360 earlier this year, making its content available to a wider user base. It may also launch Instant Video on Nintendo’s Wii U later this year.

We expect Amazon to eventually launch its Instant Video app on smartphone platforms like iOS and Android too, and become one of the major cross-platform media content services.

Digital content is expected to drive sales for the e-commerce giant in the coming years.

We currently have a $222 Trefis price estimate for Amazon which stands near its market price. Amazon competes primarily with Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) and streaming content providers like Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) in the online video streaming space.
