Accenture (NYSE:ACN) has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Singapore-based, mobility software provider, NewsPage Pte Ltd. NewsPage is a provider of integrated distributor management software and mobility software for the consumer goods industry, mainly targeting emerging economies.  This acquisition is aimed at bolstering Accenture’s CAS (Consumer Goods and Services) software platform that helps the sales process of consumer goods companies. This acquisition will help Accenture capture greater market share in the software market in emerging economies. The financial terms of the transaction was not disclosed. [1]

The acquisition of NewsPage will add to the features of the CAS platform by enabling  distributor management and mobility capabilities. It will also bring a multi-platform mobility capability to the Accenture CAS solution. It will help the CAS platform run on Windows, Android and iOS platforms.  This combination will offer clients the ability to manage all the sales related processes on a single platform. This would include trade promotion management, retail execution, distributor management, direct store delivery, merchandising and customer service. Accenture will also gain market share in the emerging markets as NewsPage’s clients include Bayer, Carlsberg, SingTel, Singapore Post,Nestle and others. Around 128 NewsPage employees will join Accenture, and will continue to focus on product development, sales and execution. The acquisition is subject to closing requirements and is expected to close within 60 days.

We currently have a Trefis price estimate for Accenture of $ 70, which is nearly 15% above the current market price.
