  • I would point out that the Department of Health will adopt the 'mixed' approach to ecig regulation contained in TPD2 (Article 20).The MHRA has been designated as the competent authority to implement and enforce Article 20 alongside its more normal role in medicine (drug) authorisation.The major difference will be the overall cost of compliance - a medicinal licence is estimated to cost ~£2m whilst the TPD licence is estimated at £20,000.The impact on SMEs of even the lesser cost is still to be assessed,given the licences are per product and many SMEs carry product ranges in the hundreds [ less... ]
