  • Read your review of NS and their intermodal service. What you failed to mention was they're implementing an automated routing system that has delayed trains coming from east from Chicago to the ports. UPS and Fed-Ex have had a meeting with NS officials concerning the late trains from this new system. This system has started to be implemented on the eastern part of their rail system that serves Philly, New Jersey and also shipments south to Atlanta and Jacksonville. The routing system was first implemented in the south on the Atlanta Division and speaking with people working down there it was a disaster resulting in missed connections and late trains. It was then put into effect coming from Chicago/Detroit to Pittsburgh. Trains with UPS, Fed-Ex, US Postal containers are 5-8 hours late into Pittsburgh and Harrisburg on a daily basis. Making those containers and others even later getting to the ports in Philadelphia and New Jersey. Norfolk/Southern has a problem with ever admitting it has made a bad decision and will do everything it can at whatever cost to make it seem like their bad policy or decision was/is a success.
