The accident year combined ratio – the ratio of claims and expenses paid to premiums earned – improved from 94.6% in the first nine months of 2015 to 91.2% in the same period last year, driven by an improved accident year loss ratio in the Casualty business, reflecting the non-renewal of certain under-performing classes of business, and lower severe losses in the Property business. The table below provides an overview of the results.
