Toyota is launching a new 2016 version of the Plug-in Hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) Prius. The vehicle has a new look and will be made on the same architecture as its fuel-cell vehicle Mirai. The Japanese auto maker is doing this because:

1) Sales of Prius have suffered because of the downturn in the sales of passenger cars, as well as the significant decrease in gasoline prices:
