NASDAQ’S cash equity volumes saw a 25% and 13% year on year decline in August in the U.S. and Europe, respectively. The exchange’s European volumes have been showing a downward trend for over a year now, and are unlikely to improve much in the near future amidst rising competition and uncertain political conditions. However, we expect the U.S. volumes to reverse the current trend owing to an industry-wide improvement in cash equity trading volumes.
