This week was a relatively slow news week compared to some of the past ones. Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), SAP (NYSE:SAP) and Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) were some of the stocks which showed some activity this week.

Here’s a run down of the highlights.

Microsoft

Microsoft reported its Q1 FY12 revenues showing around 7% growth in revenues. Revenue from Windows sales grew only 2% YOY while most of the growth was driven primarily by Microsoft’s Office, Server and Xbox businesses, which grew revenues by 8%, 10% and 10% respectively. The results were largely in line with our expectations, and there hasn’t been a significant overall impact on Microsoft’s stock price following the result.

Microsoft made another major announcement this week. It will be launching mobile compatible versions of its Business Intelligence tools for iOS, Android, Windows Phone and Windows 8 devices.

SAP

SAP was originally supposed to announce its earnings on October 26, but it gave us a sneak peek into its financials last Friday. Its software revenues jumped 16% YOY, which led to a 4% increase in its stock price. Its stock has reverted back to the previous price levels since.

SAP also announced a real time analytics solution – BI OnDemand – which is housed in the cloud. It enables companies to quickly analyse any data, and is powered by SAP’s HANA offering for increased performance.

Oracle

Oracle was the other big company in the news this week. Following a series of announcements earlier this month at the Open World conference, it made another major one. It has acquired Endeca Technologies, which develops software for unstructured data management and business intelligence solutions. Oracle could improve its big data appliance, as well as its CRM offering using technology developed by Endeca.
