HPQ’s Laptop Share And Revenue In 2016
Hewlett-Packard Incorporated’s (NYSE:HPQ) desktop revenues have declined over the past few years intandem with a secular decline in desktop sales that continues. IDC reported that the decline in PC sales have continued in first half of the year 2016. During H12016, the global PC shipment declined by 8% to 122 million. [1] Trefis projects that this downturn in PC sales will continue to impact Laptop sales, which will make up 58% of total PC shipment in 2016. However, HPQ’s share in global laptop shipment will improve by 280 basis points to 21.9%, demonstrating the strength of its Laptop product in a commoditized market. As a result, we expect that its revenues will improve by 0.3% in 2016 to $17 billion. The table below illustrates this finding:
