Groupon‘s (NASDAQ:GRPN) hyper-local deal offering Groupon Now! is available on Nokia Maps. This is the latest update on Nokia Maps for the Lumia series smart-phones. When customers are searching for something on the Nokia Maps, relevant offers marked with a green G will be shows to the users along with the usual search results. This update is available for users of version 2.5 of Nokia Maps. If users choose a local deal, they will be redirected to the Groupon site to buy the same-day deal. Availability of deals on the smart-phones is likely to give the hyper-local deal site a boost, as the number searches that originate on mobile phones continues to grow.
Groupon is the largest daily deal player in the U.S. and is expanding its offerings in other categories to diversify its revenues. Groupon Now! constitutes a little over 1 percent of its current Trefis price estimate and we expect mobile local deals to be a big growth opportunity, given the growth in cellphone penetration. The new feature is currently available only in the U.S. Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, Miami, New York and Seattle are the cities where the services of Groupon Now! are currently available.
The company leads the daily deals space in the U.S., where it competes with LivingSocial backed by Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) Offers, Yelp (NYSE:YELP) and countless clones, but is looking to expand its offerings in other categories to diversify revenues.
We currently have a $14 Trefis price estimate for Groupon, which stands nearly 90% above its current market price.Notes:
