Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) parried the most recent attempt by Samsung to slowdown its popular iPhone 4S by by avoiding a ban in France. [1] Apple’s injunctions on Google’s (NASDAQ) Android as well as Samsung are some of the biggest roadblocks for these companies looking to further expand market share in the smartphone segment.

Android Above 50%, But Apple Won’t Relent

While Android crossed the anticipated 50% market share in global mobile operating system (OS) market in Q3 2011, [2] record breaking sales for the iPhone 4S should encourage Apple to retain its ~15% market share at the least. [3] Apple has an edge over its Android partners in patent litigation so far, having blocked Galaxy Tab sales in Europe, [4] as well as extending the ban in Australia. [5] With another pending injunction hearing against the iPhone 4S in Italy, it remains to be seen whether Samsung is able to slow down the iPhone juggernaut.
