As Ford shutdown production of its F-series trucks, inventory levels of the F-150 pick-up truck remained low at Ford dealerships. This allowed GM to sell more trucks than Ford for the first time, as the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra together outsold the Ford F-150. However, with production fully underway and inventory levels back to normal, the F-150 has regained its position as the top selling vehicle in the U.S. again.
