CME Earnings Preview: Higher Trading Volume Likely To Drive Results
CME Group (NASDAQ:CME) is scheduled to announce its Q2 2016 earnings on Thursday, July 28th. The exchange operator saw a 13% year on year (y-o-y) increase in daily trade volumes in the quarter, to 15 million contracts per day across various asset classes. The growth in trading volumes was largely driven by the rise in average daily volumes (ADVs) of metals (+41% y-o-y), energy (+33% y-o-y ) and equities (+25% y-o-y ), slightly offset by the continued decline in foreign exchange contract volumes (- 7% y-o-y). The rise is trading volume is likely to boost the company’s transaction-based revenues and help drive its quarterly results.
