Amazon Vs. Alibaba: Enterprise Value & EBITDA
Amazon and Alibaba are both online retail heavyweights deriving a majority of their revenues and value from e-commerce sales. In terms of enterprise value, Amazon and Alibaba were comparable at around $270-$280 billion in 2014. However, owing to the Chinese market crash last year, Alibaba is now far behind Amazon with an enterprise value of around $189 billion compared to over $300 billion for Amazon.
In terms of the EV/EBITDA multiple, it was comparable for both companies in 2015 after fluctuating in the 2012-2014 period. While Amazon’s EV/EBITDA multiple is slightly higher for Amazon, Amazon’s multiple has declined over the last 3 years. Have more questions about Amazon? See the links below.
