I would just like to tell people to be careful about buying telecom companies because of a supposed spike in traffic, especially when there is a lot of competition.
This is exactly how Global Crossing went under. In 1999, Global crossing owned a fiber link in the Atlantic, and all the newsletters said this was the stock to buy because of growth in data traffic. Well, the capacity was much more than the demand, and the price went to zero.
This is a commodity that has no fixed limit to supply. As such, the eventual price is zero. Which isn't so good for profits.
