Cyber Security - Innovation awaiting effort?Recognizing today's "bump" upwards in RIM's stock price was apparently caused by rumors of a shake-up in leadership from the current co-CEO Mike Lazaridis / Jim Balsillie to - perhaps - Barbar Stymies, one wonders if this simple maneuver is exactly the reason that RIM products have lost so much market share and additionally, lost so much of the company's price per share.
Simply arranging the chairs on the Titanic won't forestall the inevitable. I wonder, why is it, that RIM doesn't take advantage of what it originally entered the marketplace with; its encryption innovation? In 1999, RIM made a name for itself with its encrypted email service via the Blackberry. Why isn't ('if' they're not) RIM entering the realm of Cyber Security? Why not invest in R&D of a much needed service? This would seem to fall in line with what RIM established itself.
Has RIM forgotten what its own company name means: Research...In...Motion? Where is the research? Where is the Motion?

TREFIS analysis shows that one of the three issues important to 'buyers', is Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) security and reliability. Understanding this and understanding today's greatly desired need for enhanced cyber security, RIM might be well advised to invest in R&D of it. Innovation seems to be awaiting effort.
