The stats tell the story plainly, that the Hopper is simply a better product. The Genie can record up to 5 shows at once, while the Hopper can do 6. The Genie can record up to 1,000 hours of TV, while the Hopper can record twice that. Also, I don't need my DVR to "tell" me what to watch, as that's one of the reasons I switched from Netflix to DISH. My Hopper even has AutoHop, a service that lets me skip commercials on my PrimeTime Anytime recordings. A DISH coworker gave me all the info on the Genie vs. The Hopper, and even if I DIDN'T own a Hopper, I would have no problem seeing the differences and advantages on paper.
