Well, the Google maps App is still not there on the Appstore so devices not shipping with it would not be able to use it as a native app, one can always access those using a browser but that would be hardly fun. (http://techcrunch.com/2012/09/20/crap-maps/). Secondly, even if it were to be there freely available ever, the fact that Apple maps were not comparable to google maps would still prevail and that the iPhone is not the ultimate phone with the best of all the world would also be evident. The question one would ask at some point is "Is Corporate Politics a higher priority than the Consumer?"
