Hewlett-Packard has not appreciated nor fully-understood the impact that 3D printing could/will have on the company's growth and profitability. PCs will play a smaller part in HPQs product line but with their position in ink jet printers they are in the ideal position to make acquisitions in smaller 3D printing companies as this industry becomes a major factor in manufacturing. Fifty percent of all 3D printers will be used in production lines in five years. The field will continue to grow and dwarf any other sector that makes up HPQ. Printers are currently a major sector of the company and this sector will continue to grow almost exponentially as soon as management recognizes the potential of this paradigm-changing manufacturing process.
